The big day is finally here, and let’s be honest, not a lot of sleep is had the night before! Making sure you have everything prepared for your morning will allow you to relax and enjoy the start to one of the most exciting days of your life.
Get an early start
Although a sleep-in might sound tempting, waking up reasonably early will allow you to avoid rushing your morning. One of the best memories from my wedding day was waking up, enjoying a coffee, listening to my favourite music, and soaking in the morning before my bridal party arrived. Depending on your timeline for the morning (bridal party arrivals, hair and makeup etc), give yourself enough time to enjoy every activity and have fun!
Fill your belly
Plan to have plenty of food for your bridal parties. Think tea sandwiches, fruit, crackers, meat and cheese, and sweet treats. Try to avoid messy items, or things that need a fork and knife. Finger foods are best! It may be many hours before any of you are able to eat a proper meal, so ensure you eat enough to give you the energy to get through the day.
Keep a tidy room
If you have arranged for your photographer to capture photos of you and your bridal party getting ready, make sure the room is somewhat tidy. Keep personal items in a separate area or room, and keep the space as clean as possible so that your photos don’t show unwanted clutter in the background!
Stay hydrated
While a couple of mimosas can definitely help calm the nerves, try and go easy on the booze – you want to remember walking down the aisle! Keep water on hand, and stay hydrated between drinks. It’ll help keep you looking fresh and glowing.
Listen to your favourite tunes
Having a playlist prepared with your favourite songs can help set the calm vibe. Whether it be upbeat, romantic, or relaxing, music will help you create some sweet memories with your bridal party.
Take a breath
If it all becomes too much and you feel overwhelmed, take a moment to be alone – your friends and family will understand! Go for a walk, the fresh air can help settle nerves, or just take some deep breaths and try to imagine how amazing the rest of the day will be.
Most of all, remember the reason of the day - you get to marry your best friend! No matter what happens, it will be a day to remember for the rest of your lives. Enjoy whatever the day brings and try to live in the moment!
